Denise Williams / Contemporary Machine Embroiderer
Denise’s background is in teaching Adults, City and Guilds Embroidery and Design to Level 3 as well as art classes.
She has been exhibiting her work for 20 years and has an HNC in stitched Textiles.
Denise’s work is based on and inspired by, her photographs of nature and the built environment.
Drawing is the foundation of her work, followed by exploratory artwork before committing ideas to fabric.
The exploration of colour is a major factor in her work. Recent pieces have investigated the use of layers of transparent fabrics over white, painted or screen printed backgrounds to reveal exciting new colour combinations. Contemporary machine embroidery is the speciality of her work, which consists mainly of wall hangings.
