Woven Textile Designer

I am an experimental handweaver, pushing the boundaries of loom, process  and materials to create woven designs in 2D and 3D. I like to combine different weaving structures and techniques in unusual ways and often incorporating mixed  media elements such as screen-printing, heat manipulation and stitching.

Technical excellence is the foundation of my work and the source of my creativity. Weaving is a slow and iterative process, but as time consolidates knowledge and practice develops skill, ideas flow and my curious mind leads me to unexpected places. Inspiration  comes from  text, stories, culture and codes and I enjoy the creative process of finding ways to translate messages and narratives into  cloth.

My current research is    zero waste design, through which  fabric waste  at the cutting stage is eliminated then and  translating this into garments that can woven entirely on the loom with minimal finishing.

I offer tuition and workshops from my canal-side studio in Bollington, Cheshire where I also run community textile activities. I am a member of the Cheshire Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, Complex Weavers Association and am a Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) Emerging Maker (2024).
