Art School gave me a broad appreciation for the arts leading to my career as a designer in the fashion industry and later lecturing in art, design and fashion.

More recently textiles has captured my interests for both 2D and 3D work. I can be inspired by contrasts in the natural world, diverse cultures, emotive subjects taken from literature to personal moods and emotions.

Projects start with research and drawing and usually cause sleepless nights whilst I thrash ideas about, [read more] developing a concept. Next is the experimental stage, usually undertaken in my sketch book. I obsessively explore media, techniques and materials to see what is possible, often involving much heartache and soul searching. 

I work by combining a range of techniques and media using traditional and non-traditional textile methods. I paint on woven and unwoven materials; fabrics to Perspex, incorporating plastics, papers, stitch etc. My pieces range in size containing those elements that I love; colour, texture, line and movement.[/read]
